The Gen Alpha Opportunity
Generation Alpha — children born roughly 2010–2025 — represents a unique cultural opportunity and challenge. This cohort is rapidly becoming a powerful influence on family life, education, and consumer behavior. By 2025, Gen Alpha is projected to make up nearly 30% of all consumers, signaling major market impact. They are highly connected: 95% will own a smartphone by age 11 and 70% use social media daily, giving them early digital fluency and cultural influence. Additionally, in the U.S. Gen Alpha influences about 42% of total household spending, and 91% earn money through chores or online activity, underscoring their economic sway. Engaging this generation requires faith-forward investment in context, culture, and Christ‑centered discipleship.
For centuries, the Church has wrestled with one unanswered question: What’s the right way to make disciples? Somewhere along the way, the original disciples forgot to ask Jesus—and Gen Alpha calls that the “Holy Airball.”
In this talk, Grant Skeldon unpacks the incredible opportunity before us: to disciple the next generation through Holistic Discipleship—a model that blends the strengths of every era. From Biblical Education (Gen X), to Leadership Development (Millennials), to Inner Transformation (Gen Z), this integrated approach equips us to steward Gen Alpha toward a faith that’s deep, resilient, and world-changing.
