What is The Digital Fast?

The Digital Fast is a 28-day guided journey to decrease distraction, increase devotion and use technology more intentionally. The program includes The Digital Fast book and workbook with daily devotions, journaling and reflection. Weekly featured talks by experts on THINQ Media’s platform help discern the culture and enhance the conversation, while the Aro App helps promote and track time away from phones, aggregate weekly reports and quantify the intentionality.

  • Join thousands across the nation for the first-ever, church-led Digital Fast.This 28-Day challenge will encourage your church to disconnect and reconnect to the things that matter most. When you register to participate, you’ll receive a book, workbook, 2 months access to the Aro Screentime App and THINQ Media additional resources.

  • A Digital Fast is a perfect complement to a traditional fast. For starters, your church will be locked in to an intentional period and reducing digital consumption will only aid spiritual devotion. Additionally, a Digital Fast can be a great alternative for members who struggle with a traditional food fast based on either dietary and/or other health-related concerns. 

  • You’ll be surprised at the engagement with this program! It’s likely 60-70%+ will want to be a part of the Digital Fast. We suggest you consider ordering enough bundles for 60% of the weekly adult + teenager attendance of your church. You can return any unused bundles after the campaign.Note, we believe it’s important to ask participants to have skin in the game and encourage churches to charge something (even if nominal) to ensure active engagement in the fast. 

  • We recommend communicating first with your staff and then bringing the idea to your church each week during the month of December so that your church can prepare. We’ve put together a resource here that helps you share with your church!

  • We’re offering the program at a steep discount to encourage broad-based participation. Churches can fund the initiative directly, or subsidize a portion and sell the materials to its members, or identify a church member to donate proceeds to cover the cost.

  • If your church can’t afford the resources, please contact info@digitalfast2025.com to speak with a member of our team. We are working with mission-driven individuals to help cover the cost for some churches.

  • Based on Darren’s experience leading this at Church of the City, we expect high demand from church members. That said, we’re allowing churches to return any unused materials and will refund accordingly.

  • The most basic way to track participation is by packages distributed. In addition, members can track their daily progress in the Aro App which will then aggregate daily data anonymously (both adherence to the Digital Fast and time spent off their phones).

  • The Digital Fast team will be available to answer your questions leading up to the fast, and once you sign up to participate in the Fast, you’ll receive all the necessary information and details needed to lead your staff and church through the program.
